Infinite in Power - John 1:3

John 1:3

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Think of the IMMENSITY of the power of Jesus. Every mountain He lifted up. Every sea He carved out. Every tree He raised high. Every dainty flower, He gave it beauty. Every beast He gave strength. Every bird He bid fly. Every sea creature He paints with beauty. He gives the sun, moon, and stars light.

There is NOTHING that has been made that wasn’t formed and fashioned in the mind of Christ and spoken into being. ALL of God’s majestic creation was made through the Word made flesh.

Think of the beauty and wonder of every flower, tree, insect, beast, bird, fish, mountain, sea, coral, think of it all! Then know that the One who spoke it all into existence is GREATER than ALL OF IT COMBINED! Every single ounce of creation from the beginning of time to the end of time screams glory, and yet Christ the Word of Life is infinitely more glorious than all of it!

What about what is unseen? The powers, authorities, and principalities. Jesus created them all. I read in the Bible about men being terrified in the presence of an angel, and yet I know that their power pales in comparison to that of their Creator, Christ!

I have not yet spoken of man, the pinnacle of God’s creation.

Your existence is because of Jesus, the Word of Life. In the beginning, when Adam was created, He was created by Christ and for Christ. It is His very breath that gave life to Adam, and that very same breath that we breathe today. This truth should humble our souls as we recognize that we are to steward His breath.

To steward means to give God a greater return on His investment. His very breath that we breathe should return to Him with:

  • Praise

  • Gospel proclamation

  • Encouragement

  • Give our body oxygen for service

We were made by Him, through Him, and for Him.

What power the Son of God possesses, power to give life, to sustain life, and to take life. I think of all of this and I ask,

  • “What is man that you are mindful of him” (Ps. 8:4)?

  • How can it be that the eternal Word of Life would concern Himself with the very number of hairs upon my head (Lk. 12:7)?

  • How can it be that Christ my King would die for a wretch like me?
