So in John chapter 2, we see the first miracle, the first sign of the Messiah, and we see the first act of the Messiah. The first sign says, "Hey, listen, there's something better." The first act of the Messiah says that thing that's better is worship—is being in the house of God.

Where do we begin with John's gospel and how do we even begin to make sense of it? Those are questions that we should be mulling through as we think about how to read through the gospel of John.

John's Gospel begins in a way that is completely different than Matthew, Mark, and Luke. He begins by stating the genealogy of the Son of God—but not in the way you might expect.
